Probe team out to identify ‘porn stars’

AN Independent investigation team into the pornography saga in East New Britain is on the street identifying women involved in pornography production, Attorney-General, Dr Allan Marat said yesterday.
Among the ladies identified were two female public servants, he said.
Dr Marat said the team would also call up the Australian High Commission to liaise with PNG authorities to have the key person, an Australian, who had been involved in the production to be brought to Papua New Guinea to face prosecution.
According to Bernie Benson from the investigation team, a handful of women had been identified, with two female public servants.
“Our report and findings so far are good and we will bring them to face prosecution as soon as possible,” Mr Benson said.
He said they found out that the production of the pornography had taken place from 1998 to 2004.
He said the team would not like to collaborate with other investigation teams as it wanted to remain transparent and to complete the investigation.
He said the report would be handed over to the provincial law and order committee, who would then hand it over to the police for further action and prosecution.
The team is also calling up on youths to surrender pornography materials to the police or to the investigation team to assist them in their investigation.
