Controversial Fijians homeward bound

By AUGUSTINE KINNA
THE four controversial Fijian nationals who had their charges dismissed by the National Court last week due to lack of evidence, will be flying home today.
The second secretary of the Fijian High Commission Daniel Johnson, accompanied the four Fijians out of Buka on Wednesday.
The Autonomous Boungaville Government President Joseph Kabui, in his farewell speech to the Fijians at the airport conference room, thanked them for their patience and cooperation with authorities.
He said the Fijians had been very co-operative with the government and the police service during their 28 months in the overcrowded Buka police station cell.
He said the case of the Fijians not only brought bad experience to Bougainville but had also strengthened the Melanesia friendship between both governments.
“You all have made so many friends and therefore you would be living Bougainville with many fond memories,” Mr Kabui said.
ABG Police Minister Ezekiel Massatt shared the same sentiments and laid down the law saying that remaining Fijian still in Tonu would on be charged for breaches of the immigration law.
“I would like to appeal to the remaining Fijian to freely come out and to enjoy the life as his brothers are now going through.”
Mr Massatt wished the Fijians a safe and happy reunion with their families in Fiji.
Aliki Moroca, Sojalame Gukirewa, Kalivati Dau and Manasa Dumuloto arrived on PX 255 at 2:50pm at Jackson Airport on Wednesday and were whisked away by Fiji High Commission officials.
