Three exciting weeks of volleyball finals underway

IT’S crunch time in the Hohola Volleyball Association as the finals get underway this weekend and according to the match committee games will be played both on Saturday and Sunday.
In the mend division, teams will be playing off for the Sir Mekere Morauta shield while the women have been pooled into tow pools, A which consist s of the top eight teams and B, the bottom eight teams.
Pool A will see the teams battle it out for the “Hui Isaro Memorialî representative player ñ a product of Hohola) while pool B will have a trophy to play for.
The finals will be played over the next three weekends with the grand final slated for the second weekend of March with the presentation immediately after.
In this weekend Saturday matches, the men’s division will see top teams Namona (1) and Iariva (2) battle it our which will surely be the match of the day as both teams have a score to settle against each other.
Ebony Blackwood (3) take on their neighbours, the boys from Erupi street, Zerupi (4) with 29 Mukies (5) playing Bullets (6) and the do or die match sees youngsters Ebony Youth (7) facing off with Panthers.
The women’s Pool A matches on Saturday will see minor premiers Yamandu face off with Yariva, Ebony take on Top Kinghts, Sarea and Bina’s Tigers battles it our against Bullets and Namona take on Freeway Bumpers in the do-or-die match.
In Pool B, Border Titans play Panthers, Outlaws take on Casa, Flames against Taraga Dragons and two sister teams, Zerupi 1 and Zerupi 2 face each other.
Match Committee Chairman, Ivan Fari has indicated that after the games tomorrow, draws will than be compiled for the Sunday matches and he has appealed to all teams to take note of that and be at the courts one hour early before their match.
Furthermore, Fari together with the executives of the association have appealed for players and supporters to refrain from any unsportsmanship behaviour, adding that there will be police presence at the courts during the course of the finals.
