Query for Ombudsman
Could the Ombudsman Commission advice if the use of public funds to pay for condolence advertisements in newspapers is justified? Does this amount to misuse of public funds and thus misconduct under the leadership code if authorised by ministers, department heads and those covered under the leadership code? The OC lost one of its hard working officers, John Hevie, on Jan 19 but there were no paid condolences notice of any kind from the commission saying that it has to be free so that they can investigate similar practices using public funds. Why couldn’t the OC put out a paid condolence message for its officer but still allow State funds to be used for the relatives of ministers, vice ministers and department heads when they are not officers of the State? – Patrick Harricknen, Boroko

Fix ‘network busy’ problem
I like to express my frustration over Telikom B Mobile network problems as a faithful supporter of the company, despite facing criticisms every day on grounds that I use a failed communication network. Please whoever is responsible, can you open your ears to the critics and prove them wrong? Fix this “Network busy” problem. If it is due to congestion, is there any way to solve it? (Ask Digicel should you have difficulties). To date, B Mobile is rarely used in places like Lae, Madang, Goroka and Mt Hagen. During my last trip to Lae, I felt ashamed asking for B Mobile prepaid card at retail sales outlets after realising everyone was selling Digicel flex cards. Why? With you all the way! – Kaimininko, via email

MP should not be let off
I urge the parents of the young girl “caught in the act” to come out and seek legal assistance and ensure that the Member of Parliament from the Papuan region is tried by the full force of the law of PNG as soon as possible. This particular MP’s action is a disgrace to all Papuans, his immediate family and Papua New Guinea as a whole, and he should be removed from the public office now. – Pepe Akore, Konedobu.

Arrest and charge MP
When I read about the incident involving a Papuan MP and a 15-year-old girl, I felt sick. It leaves me with the question of when are we going to have leaders with the high standards and morality? Furthermore, does this country have separate laws for the different categories of citizens? This MP should be arrested and charged. – Waldo, Port Moresby
