Millions spent on a plane, could be spent elsewhere

PNG Sustainable and Infrastructure Project Ltd (PNGSIL) recently delivered an aircraft to MAF to serve mainly Western province.
It was a commendable move but it does not benefit the masses who still use tree barks for light at night, tree leaves or grass to clean their pots and plates, tress ash as salt and so forth.
Why spend millions on a plane when so many people are still living in poverty, lack health services, schools and roads?
Who will the aircraft benefit?
Does PNGSIL expect the masses to use the plane when they can hardly generate any income due to the lack of economic activities?
Clearly PNGSIL has created another huge monster that is going to reap off the already-suffering people.
The money could have been used to build roads and improve shipping services along the Fly River system.
These projects would encourage the people to engage in small-scale businesses that would in turn improve their lifestyles. I call this real empowerment of people.
I fail to understand why some sons and daughters of Western province who hold senior executive positions within PNGSIL could not understand the plight of the people.
I can only conclude that the province will continue to serve the interests of a few while the majority continue to remain ignorant.
