Give up weapons for sake of SHP development

I would like to comment on The National’s front page story regarding the surrender of weapons in SHP. The people of SHP must know that the National Government declared the SoE in the province for a special reason.
It was declared because of corruption in all levels of government in the province with law and order getting totally out of hand so that basic services have never reached the rural population in very remote areas.
That’s why SoE was declared to restore peace, harmony and put the province back in order. However, when locals are asked to return weapons, they seem to hide the sophisticated weapons such as AR15, SLRs, M16, AK47 and others and only return home-made guns and one or two factory-made weapons which are spoilt.
This is not good enough as they are not helping their province to move forward. The province will never ever prosper if the illegal sophisticated weapons are still in the hands of the locals.
Though the province can be rich in minerals, the accumulation of illegal weapons will definitely be detrimental to development in the province
Be honest and return all the illegal weapons to the Government of the day through the SoE operations currently underway in the province. This the key to becoming a successful province.

Hello – Is your line working

I have lodged a report on my telephone fault on January 24 and was given a Job # 4044981 (Tel: 323 6927) but to date the phone is still out.
Can the Telikom management do something about the delays in fixing residential phones?  Everybody needs telephones at home, because of possible emergencies.
