Driver survives ‘off-road’ accident

By ZACHERY PER
A PMV truck ran off the Highlands Highway last Thursday morning at Watabung.
The truck owned by a Western Highlands company was carting flour bags from Lae and was bound for Mount Hagen.
Members of the Goroka mobile squad 14 at Watabung responded quickly to prevent villagers from looting the cargo.
Police constable Joseph Puang said they arrived at the scene of the accident when the crowd of villagers began to swell and dispersed them.
He said the cause of the accident is not known. The driver was unharmed.
