Baki focuses on police review report, ’07 election

THE police review report of 2000 and the 2007 general election are the two foremost things on the mind of Police Commissioner Gari Baki.
The recommendations of the police review report are the guidelines which the Police Force was to make changes and carry out major developments, especially for the social welfare of its members.
Among those that were achieved were the launch of the housing scheme and pay rise.
“I need your help in the steps we are trying to take in the Force,” Mr Baki appealed to journalists, when he and his deputy (operations) Jim Andrews met with them last Friday.
Mr Baki met with journalists to voice his concern on the way certain reports had been published during the last six months following his appointment as Commissioner of Police.
In regard to preparations towards the national election, Mr Baki said he was still in consultation with the Electoral Commission before the Police Force could put together a final Operation Order within the budgetary allocation of K50 million that was allocated by the National Government during the recent supplementary budget passing.
Mr Baki and police media unit director Supt Dominic Kakas also revealed that reports entered in the police Occurrence Book (OB) would be made available to newsrooms in the form of weekly reports followed by a summary at the end of each month.
