Pandan to resolve issues with members of PAC

CLERK of Parliament Don Pandan is meeting with the Members of the Public Accounts Committee to resolve queries about an inquiry into the Parliamentary Services.
The PAC last Thursday referred Mr Pandan to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee and Police for failing to turn up at the hearing to explain use of funds in Parliament.
But Mr Pandan said in a statement released Friday that the National Parliament passed a motion for PAC to conduct an inquiry into the Parliament Services on July 9, 2003, and this inquiry was held and its findings tabled in a report on Sept 25, 2003.
To date, PAC has not received yet any motion from Parliament for an inquiry, nor has it received any audit reports from the Auditor General on Parliament, he said.
No motions have been received from any member of the committee to look into Parliamentary Services, Mr Pandan added.
He said the chairman of PAC has requested for information on certain matters regarding the operations of the Parliamentary Services, and responsible officers were commissioned to collect and prepare the information for the committee which is under progress.
The PAC chairman was informed in writing and is fully aware of the correspondence.
