Damem to stand trial over K4 million pay-out

FORMER attorney-general Francis Damem has been committed to stand trial before the National Court.
Mr Damem is allegedly implicated in a K4 million pay-out from the Department of Finance last year and has been charged with official corruption, abuse of office and misappropriation.
It is alleged that when he was in office, he approved the payout in his capacity as attorney-general.
Earlier, the committal court presided by senior Magistrate Allan Kopi dismissed the charge of misappropriation as there was insufficient evidence to support that allegation.
