Court challenges against sitting MPs have
dreadful impacts on services
People of Imbongu electorate have been deprived of basic
services because of continuous court battles against sitting MPs in the past
decade.
The winners in the Imbongu electorate have always been challenged in the
court of disputed returns for the last 15 years, depriving people from
receiving services from their elected leaders.
In the 2007 national election, the people of Imbongu for the first time have
voted a capable Southern Highlander with a successful business background,
unquestionable leadership and a man with strong vision and patriotism.
Francis Awesa in his public service years as a provincial planner and
premier has led and served the people of Southern Highlands province with
dignity and pride.
He is prepared to do the same for Imbongu electorate but ongoing court
challenges will continue to deprive the potential for development.
Voters of Imbongu would like to see that Francis Awesa is given a chance to
manage the affairs of the Imbongu electorate so that positive outcomes can
be achieved and best practices replicated.
As a consequence of previous court battles infrastructure development in
Imbongu district, especially to Tona Peambel, is appalling.
There are no feeder roads in other remote areas to allow people to access
basic services of health education and to market rural produce; education
facilities are falling apart.
Court battles are real hindrance to development and are a sign of greed,
self interest and lack of consideration for the rural majority.
