Support for Punagi view on poverty

It is interesting to the see the nation’s youngest Defence Secretary Fredrick M Punagi, making some bold statements about poverty in Papua New Guinea.
Our ancestors have lived on the island of New Guinea for centuries and millenniums and none of them have died of hunger, poverty and starvation.
We must know that development in Papua New Guinea is a very recent event and most of our people still live in remote areas of drinking fresh water and feeding on fresh foods. That means basic needs like food, water, clothing and shelter are free.
It is those who are living in the city that claims to be living in poverty and complaining and giving a bad image to the whole country.
Even visitors are thinking that everywhere in Papua New Guinea people live in settlements and feed on rubbish.
It is now time to listen to leaders like Punangi and go back to your own God given village and stop complaining.
You people are inviting poverty into Papua New Guinea.
So please stop saying that I’m living in poverty and hunger.....before you spread that terrible disease called poverty.
