Four more centres join union code
FOUR new rugby unions centres
including women rugby union in Port Moresby have affiliated with
PNG Rugby Football Union.
All four have played their respective competition and have met all
the requirements and were accepted into the mother body during the
PNGRFU general meeting in Lae last weekend.
PNGRFU executive officer Peter Tsiamalili (Jr) said four new
unions had affiliated last year and will take part in all PNGRFU
sanctioned tournaments this year.
“I’m pleased to officially announce that the four new rugby union
playing centres, Wewak, Popondetta, Buka and Women Rugby Union
(Port Moresby), have affiliated with PNGRFU to hold their rugby
competitions in their respective provinces this year,” he said.
“Women Rugby Union (WRU) have registered its intentions with IPA
and have meet all the requirements to affiliate with PNGRFU and
will take part in any of the women’s national and international
tournaments this year,” he said.
“We have seen growth rate of the game in the past six years. It is
very positive, all efforts lies on the presidents to get the game
off the ground in their respective affiliates.”
Tsiamalili aid all the president respect PNGRFU because it had
maintained its quality of administration at the national
development level and all the presidents were also given time to
talk about their own priorities.
“PNGRFU had supplied all the balls, whistles and equipments to all
the presidents to pass on to their respective affiliates to
develop the game.
