MP ‘caught in the act’ is a disgrace

I write regarding the story (The National Feb 11) about a Member of Parliament and an underage girl caught drinking beer and carrying on in the back seat of a car while a policeman was watching over them at Gordon, Port Moresby.
This portrays the leadership qualities and daily activities of some MPs, who are supposed to be the nation’s law makers and role models.
Such actions portray a bad image to the people of Papua New Guinea and the global community and signify the sick society we are living in.
The Ombudsmen Commission should get to the root of such actions and punish the offenders severely and accordingly within the laws of this land.
Papua New Guinea cannot afford to have such leaders in Parliament.
If there are no laws to deal with such cases, then this should be changed.
This MP owes the people of his electorate and the people of Papua New Guinea an apology.
