LAWN bowls women champion Espina McNai will be out to defend her title at the National Singles Championships at the Lae Bowling Club this weekend.
McNai is representing Defence Bowling Club of Port Moresby.
PNG Women Bowls Association president Geua Tau said yesterday that the winner will qualify to attend the World Champion of Champions in Scotland in November.
Tau said they have decided to hold the Lae championships early so that they will have plenty of time to prepare the winner for the Scotland tournament.
At the same time Tau appealed to all clubs at all bowls playing centres to attend the Lae championships.
She made special mention of all new Madang bowlers to come up with their affiliation fee and participate in the tournament.
Tau said she is expecting a good turnout from Mount Hagen, Goroka, Lae, Bulolo, Defence (Port Moresby) and Madang.
There will be a meeting between PNG Bowls Association and the PNG Women Bowls Association in Lae to coincides with the Singles Women championships.
Tau said the meeting is expected to settle differences and ensure that lawn bowls move to another level.
