Visa processing poor
Poor visa processing in Jayapura forced a friend
of mine to wait for three weeks for a PNG visa, only to be told by the
consulate staff in Jayapura that that he would not get one. I am sure there
are many tourists who have plans to travel to PNG through Indonesia, but are
being denied the opportunity because of the poor performance of the
consulate staff. I appeal to the Department of Foreign Affairs and
Immigration to screen candidates properly before posting them overseas as
representatives of the people and the Government of PNG. – R.Tingke,

Please fix up Lae
I must say that the potholes in all major streets
in Lae are real and that State properties are all in poor condition. No one
seems to take care and have ownership of this city. The big question I ask:
Where is Governor Luther Wenge, Bart Philemon and local MPs? To those who do
not know Lae, I still rate Lae as ‘the least city’ in PNG and I call upon
local MPs to put their differences aside and work as a unit for a good
cause. Enough of petty politics. – Kuwi Yawi, Kuare
Big thanks to motor squad
I like to thank and commend the police for a job well done. I had my car
Nissan Double Cab Ute stolen at Waigani Drive in Port Moresby last July 7.
The detectives from the Police Motor Squad at Boroko, with their colleagues
in Kavieng, managed to locate and recover the vehicle. – Daniel, via
