2 firms ordered out of B’ville

By AUGUSTINE KINNA
THE Australian-based HK Shipping and Hevilift Co in Bougainville have been given 14 days to move out of the region.
Bougainville Autonomous Region President Joseph Kabui issued the order yesterday after his government was refused services by the two companies on several occasions.
He said when the Autonomous Bougainville Government and the National Government requested assistance to airlift the Fijians from Tonu to Buka using a helicopter, Hevilift rejected it.
“It is clear HK Shipping and Hevilift are not here for Bougainville because they would not assists us in this matter, which was of high priority for both PNG and Bougainville internal security and international relations,” Mr Kabui said.
He said he had formally written them regarding the issue in which the two companies were told to leave the region within 14 days.
Mr Kabui said he also handed a copy of the letter to Minister for Bougianville Affairs Sir Peter Barter, Bougainville administration and the Bougainville police service.
“I would like to make it clear that this is Bougainville soil and we, the ABG, are the authority on ground.
“If you can’t help us with our peace process then there is no room for you here,” he said.
