Passport processing technology improved

THE United States Embassy in Port Moresby yesterday revealed its improved technology in processing passports and visas.
Ambassador to PNG Leslie Rowe told reporters at a press conference yesterday the improved technology would increase efficiency and improve screening and movement of people, making life a lot easier for both the traveller and the embassy.
She said the technology was a result of the ongoing improvement on security by the Bush administration since 9/11 to improve border security while still welcoming visitors to the US.
Ms Rowe said the US State Department and the Homeland Securities had been working to guide the current and future development of solutions that ensure the best use of new technologies and the most efficient processes – all of which would ensure that joint facilitation and security objectives were met.
