Teachers in Western H’lands await postings

By JAMES APA GUMUNO
THIRTY teachers in the Western Highlands province are still waiting to be given postings at schools.
Western Highlands PNG Teachers Association branch president Aita Senagape said yesterday that about 200 teachers, who were not given any positions this year, were sorted out during the appointment review held last week at Rebiamul.
Mr Senagape said many headmasters, who had their tenure positions given to other teachers, were not happy but this was sorted out.
He said teachers waiting for positions would be sorted out soon.
He said all postings for schools in the city were already filled but there were spaces in schools like Jimi and other rural areas.
Mr Senagape also said he had received many reports about communities not looking after their teachers.
He urged people living around schools to look after and help teachers in need.
