Guinness ready to go on a Mad run
By WENDY KATUSELE
FAVOURITES Guinness and Mad Blues are set to continue their top
performances in Madang rugby union sevens competition tomorrow.
The pre-season competition which has been the talk of the flying fox
province would see last pool matches played in the morning with the
finals in the afternoon.
Guinness are currently leading pool A ahead on eight points, followed by
Easterners six, Barbarians four, Royals three, Gunners three and Raiders
nil.
While in pool B Mad Blues lead on eight points, Tultuls six, Esi Cruzers
four, Maddies four, Vikings two and Reds yet to register a win.
Guinness will take on Kalibobo Gunners in a match that is set to go the
pace setters way.
Joshua Petali with the support of Sibolo brothers Richard and Eddie and
Junior Adolf should lead his pack see them through to the grand finals
later slated for 5 pm.
After a recording convincing wins against Easterners 20-7 and
demoralizing Barbarians 34-0 last weekend has increase their grand final
hopes and they are set to get started at Ron Albert Oval tomorrow.
But one contender is Mad Blues who have also done well in the pre season
competition and would want their fair share of the cake.
Mad Blues has welcomed the return of PNG sevens pukpuk Joseph Wamapiri
and Divine Word University student Ralph Susuve to assist veterans
Warren Teno, Gerald Tommy and Philemon Hulo who should add more fuel to
fire in their grand final campaign.
In the other scheduled matches, Barbarians take on Royals, Esi Cruzers
face Maddies, Easterners lock horns with Mac49 Raiders, and Newtown Jets
battle it out with Tultuls.
