Eda Ranu donation flows in
EDA Ranu played a good corporate
citizen role yesterday by donating K30,000 to two sports in their
preparation towards the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa, in May this
year.
Eda Ranu chief executive Timothy Bonga said his company was happy
to donate K20,000 to volleyball and K10,000 to boxing.
Bonga said Eda Ranu was happy to support boxing because it was
medal winner, doing PNG proud throughout their outstanding
performances in the recent Oceania championship in Port Moresby
where PNG fighters secured gold and other medals.
“I am confident that this small financial support of K10,000 to
boxing union will boost their moral in preparation for Pacific
Games in Samoa,” he said.
Bonga also announces a similar support to volleyball where he
presented K20,000 to PNG Volleyball Federation president Maria
Warupi.
He said that as a former player and coach, he felt that volleyball
needed a boosted because sport is community oriented.
“We at Eda Ranu want to encourage the PNGVF to work together and
build this low rated sport to become a major sporting force in the
country,” he said.
PNGABU general secretary John Avira and Mrs Warupi thanked the Eda
Ranu board for their financial support.
Avira said PNGABU will use this money for training camps in Port
Moresby before the team leaves for Apia later in the year.
Warupi stated that this was first major sponsorship ever PNGVF
have secured from any corporate organization.
