Banz to host finals

Banz Rugby League ground will host the finals series of the Melpa Cup rugby league this Sunday when Mt Hagen Paraka take on Kurumul Kips in the first semi final while Gomis Eagles challenge home team Banz Besta.
The losers bow out while the winners will meet in the grand final at the same venue the following Sunday.
Gomis Eagles, who has been an early competition leader, has a slight advantage over Banz Besta in the main semi because they boast the services of Francis Ray in the forward and Stephen Neng in the backline. Both experienced players have proven strong throughout the competition and will be able to mobilise their city boys to humble their North Waghi opponents.
Banz have an inexperienced side but have been consistent throughout with their share of wins and losses and this augurs well for them going into the finals. Abraham Ambelye and the half combination of John Rasta and Greg Maliye should be the players to depend on for an upset.
In the other match, Hagen Paraka should have an easy win over an underrated Kurumul Kips who had come to secure the top spot by wins through technical spots rather than convincing wins on the field so the real test comes this Sunday when they confront the experienced Hagen Paraka.
Paraka has the services of former Kumuls, Jack Kilip with James Kunjil and Highlands prop forward Sent Nonngor and this should create gaps in the Kurumul’s defence to avenge their 10-14 loss to Kurumul two weeks age.
