Investigate 10% syndicate claims
While some public servants at the Vulupindi Haus have
expressed their innocence, we still believe that there are some officers
hiding behind many hard working officers and charging 10% or nearest on
some approved cheques.
I and many Papua New Guineans are appealing to you truly innocent
officers not to come out and interfere with the Minister’s call for an
investigation. We support the Minister’s call to deal with this problem.
The officers involved will be caught when the investigations are
carefully instituted and executed.
Whether in big or small ways, we should keep pushing this country
forward so that in the future we would be rewarded with increased pay
when the country enjoys greater prosperity.
For all the financial difficulties faced by so many families around the
country, if the 10% syndicate does exist, this group can be blamed for
much of the pains and tribulation we are going through.
In some places in Port Moresby like Morata, Gerehu and Hohola, we hear
stories every now and then of people claiming to be very long-time
businessmen, engaging private accountants to do cash flows of previously
failed businesses and using extinct business names to successfully claim
huge amounts of money.
These people bribe any person involved in handling their claims but
often this comes out in conversations when people are under the
influence of alcohol.
I therefore support any action the Minister can take to clear up these
allegations and to prosecute those responsible.
