Corruption not an act of Haus Tambaran but individuals

I agree with David of Chuave (The National, Feb 25) that corruption is eating away and crippling our rich country. But to blame the Haus Tambaran is an insult to all Sepiks that take pride in this magnificent symbol.
Let me remind our bro, that corruption does not start only in the National Parliament House, it starts within us individuals.
If a group of people clear a small detour and charge passing vehicles illegal fees, that’s corruption too.
So it is when urban PMVs do not complete their designated routes in NCD, that’s corruption or when someone obtains a driver’s licence without attending a proper driving school.
Until and unless all Papua New Guineans stand in front of a full length mirror, assess themselves and take conscious actions to address these shortcomings, corruption and corrupt activities will continue to persist.
I am disappointed that small minds can question the social, cultural, economic and religious significance of the Haus Tambaran.
The Haus Man was a haven for intelligent debate on issues that help shaped and moulded the brilliant Sepik River and Maprik minds that dominate public and the private sector today. Remember, the house is a cultural symbol for a small part (minority) of the East Sepik province.
Educate yourself and your people rather than jumping to elementary conclusions that only serves to demonstrate shallow thinking.
