United closer to minor title

LOW scoring games and one upset were the fare in Port Moresby A grade cricket competition at the weekend.
Saturday’s match between top four hopeful Wesram Taora (127-10) and lowly Mariners (128-9) was supposed to be a tune-up for Wesram but things didn’t go to script. Mariners were able to restrict Wesram to 127 all out by the 40th over and then reach the target with three overs to spare. A one wicket win to Mariners has all but sunk Wesram’s top four hopes.
The other Saturday game saw TST Coasters (123-10) lose by 44 runs to competition front runners SNS United (167-10). Set a targed of 168 to win Coasters crumbled to be all out for 123 thanks in no small part to Rarua Dikana’s (5-16) five wicket haul and a rousing 68 from Kohu Dai.
United have all but closed the door on other challengers for the minor premiership this year with the win.
In Sunday’s matches KCC (137-6) put the heat on Mobil STC (135-10) with a solid four wicket win. Mobil falls to fifth spot as a result and KCC moves up to fourth spot.
In Sunday’s other match Raukele (84-10) suffered a six wicket loss to BNG Poreporena (86-4). China.
