Samoa to host Olympics boxing qualifiers

AIBA has confirmed Apia, Samoa, as the new host country for the Oceania Olympic qualification tournament on April 21-25.
PNG Boxing chief Lohial Nuau who is also the president of Oceania Continental Boxing Confederation (OCBC) said yesterday that AIBA executive meeting last week endorsed Samoa as the new host country in place of Adelaide because of Australia’s non-compliance of AIBA guidelines for Olympic Games qualification.
The winners from each category will qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing in August.
Nuau said AIBA also made announcement where countries are bidding for the hosting the AIBA Boxing Academy in various continents.
In Oceania, New Zealand and Samoa have submit their bids through AIBA for further deliberation and the AIBA executive council in consultation with OCBC will decide which country will receive the academy.
