Living positively with HIV/AIDS

By JUNITA SOL GOMA
It is not easy for a people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) to live positively in a society where the prejudice and stigmatisation hurts so much, founder for Positive Care Foundation Peter Momo said.
“People living with HIV/AIDS need love, care and support in order to boost their confidence so they can see life in a positive manner,” he said.
Mr Momo was speaking at a meeting to make known his intentions to form an organisation that will take care of PLHIV and live positively and be productive members in society.
Mr Momo has been living with the virus for eight years and is a father of two healthy HIV negative sons, has a success story to tell.
He contracted the disease in 1999 and his condition deteriorated at a very alarming rate.
“During those times, it was so hard for me and my wife (she is also HIV positive) because everyone looked at us with contempt,” Mr Momo recalls, “but today I do not know what stigmatisation is”.
Mr Momo said in the eight years of living with the virus, he experienced so much and his biggest achievement was founding the Positive Care Foundation, which he knows would be a great help for those living with the virus.
