Fire destroys Oro administration office

THE Oro provincial administration building was gutted by fire early yesterday morning.
Eyewitness Bray Sisre said the fire started at about 4am destroying office equipments worth thousands of kina.
He said no one was injured in the fire.
A security guard said there was a loud explosion heard from one of the adjoining office and then fire spread rapidly within minutes and the entire building was engulfed in flame.
He said minutes later the fire service truck arrived but the firemen could do little because the fire truck ran out of water.
According to senior fire officer David Ogove, it was too early to predict what caused the fire, but investigations will be carried out.
In January this year, the provincial fisheries office that coordinates the Ijivitari district relief supplies was completely burnt down.
Since the flood hit the province last year, there had been frustrations over the manner in which the provincial government had responded to the disaster.
