Setting record straight about APRA

As a member of the Australasian Performing Right Association Ltd (APRA), I am a staunch copyright advocate and also a writer/full member since November 2007.
I have never been a salaried APRA employee or its legal agent. If users and owners of copyright in PNG are somehow led to believe otherwise, then I am not responsible for this misinformation.
Additionally, I disassociate myself from individuals, groups or entities that misrepresent my ties with APRA without my express permission.
However, I would like to add that APRA is a fantastic performing right society with a superb record of accomplishment for its members.
I would not hesitate to support any copyright owner that makes a conscious decision to join as it has real benefits.
May I also add that under the Constitution of PNG, each citizen has both freedom of association and freedom of expression; that means if there is a songwriter wishing to join the membership of APRA, then he or she should not be intimidated into a decision that is not in his or her best interests.
