Team officials pleased with performance from our boys

PAPUA New Guinea U23 team management is pleased with the overall performance of the team against a Suva-select side which they drew 1-1 at Fiji Post Stadium in Suva during the week.
Team manager John Kapi Natto said from Nadi where the team is preparing for the opening match against the Solomon Islands tomorrow, that the score could have been high had their strikers meet the target.
Natto said he was pleased with the performance and in fact, a lot of soccer critics in Fiji and also Papua New Guinean’s living in Fiji commended the boys for their skills against the Suva side.
The bulk of the Suve-selected side are also involved in a Fiji National Soccer League which is similar to PNG’s version of NSL.
He said PNG missed three chances through Niel Hanz, Jason Wesley and midfielder Samuel Kini but were lucky to pick up the equaliser after the Fiji defenders was penalised with a hand ball.
Natto said PNG boys led by midfielder David Muta meant business and this was a good sign for the team.
Muta said he is prepared to lead the PNG U23 boys to the OFC Olympics Qualifiers in Fiji this weekend with the opening match against the Solomon Islands.
