Major builder expands business to PoM

HORNIBROOK NGI Ltd will expand its Port Moresby operations due to increased business activities in the capital city.
Managing director Mal Lewis revealed the Lae-based Hornibrook has acquired land at Badili and would be leasing out their heavy equipment.
The move, he said will create an additional 50 jobs and further strengthen the company’s rise in the construction industry and consolidate their Port Moresby operations.
A recognised premier building company, Hornibrook expects to make the move within the next two months.
Building division manager with the Lae office Brett Lewis has been appointed the area manager and will be responsible for running the building projects and the equipment hire business.
The company will be leasing out equipment from cranes, cherry pickers, compressors, among others.
It will also fabricate the materials they need in Lae and ship them in containers to Port Moresby.
Company director Sherron Lewis said because of the company’s quality control and dedicated staff, the fabricated materials are actually cheaper than those sourced out in Port Moresby.
Formerly owned by Steamships, Hornibrook moved over to Lae a few years ago.
In Lae, it began operations with an initial of 180 staff and now has over 400 people and has made a reputation for itself in steel fabrication business.
