Land Rover makes a come back bid

By BIBIAN BARRENG
BRITISH High Commissioner David Gordon Macleod on Wednesday evening hosted the re-launching of the Land Rover in the country at his residence in Port Moresby.
The re-launching was officiated by Julian Beale, director of Guava International Ltd, regional distributor of the vehicles in the Asia Pacific region.
Mr Beale, in a brief remarks to potential customers and the media, said the occasion was a re-launch as the Land Rover was riding the rugged terrains of Papua New Guinea some 10 years ago under the banner Steamship automotives.
The vehicles are making a come back in the country with a range of new models that are manufactured to suit the harsh road conditions of PNG.
With prices ranging from US$40, 000 to US$50,000 (K112,000- K140,000), the vehicles are not built cheaply “but are a measure of quality and opportunity where its economy is reasonable”.
Mr Beale, whilst in the country, says hopefully Guava International would be able to find local partner for a local dealership of their vehicles.
