Utilise skilled human resources
WE strongly support the proposal
regarding the maximum use of Papua New Guinea’s human resources,
scientists and experts, in competent research and development
programmes that is before the National Executive Council.
Whether we realise it or not, over the last 30 years, the country
had developed a large pool of local experts who have the skills,
knowledge, technical know-how and abundant experiences.
They have performed competently whereever they serve, either in
country or abroad.
These Papua New Guineans deserve praise for a job well done in
contributing to PNG’s development in the last 30 years.
Although we have enough highly-skilled and educated human
resources, many professionals have gone to other countries because
the Government has failed to trust and utilise them.
It has been focusing on the so-called foreign experts who do not
care much about the value of their responsibility but the money
they need to make out of PNG.
We praise the former minister for Higher Education, Mark Maipakai,
and all members of the NEC who supported the proposal to better
use PNG’s human resources.
We have doctors who can develop solutions to most of our medical
problems; we have engineers who can create and utilise
technologies conducive for our nation’s development and we have
all the experts that can make a difference in the development of
our country.
But we need a Government that trusts its own citizens and is
patriotic about nation building.
