Officer charged with misuse

WEWAK police have arrested and charged a senior officer employed at the Ambunti district treasury with misappropriating more than K27,000 last week.
Provincial police commander, Chief Supt Leo Kabilo told The National the officer was alleged to have misappropriated K27,450.
Mr Kabilo said after an investigation, police detectives arrested and charged the officer with four counts each of uttering, forging and misappropriation.
He said the man was expected to appear in court this week.
He said police investigations were continuing and more charges were expected to be laid soon.
Meanwhile, Mr Kabilo has renewed his call for the public to help police in the fight against homebrew liquor and marijuana.
