Account for K67m: Yawari asks minister

By ISAAC NICHOLAS
VICTORIOUS Southern Highlands Governor Hami Yawari has called on Inter-Government Relations Minister Sam Abal to account for the K67 million allocated for restoration services in his province.
Mr Yawari, who was carried out of the National Court House after the Supreme Court decision to reinstate his government, told more than 200 supporters that he would conduct an urgent provincial executive council meeting this weekend or early next week.
He also assured the parents that his government’s free education policy was also reinstated with the court decision.
“The National Government wanted to make the decision without facts and wanted to play politics with Hami Yawari and this decision has not borne fruit,” he said.
“I have only two months to go before the elections and if we want to play politics, we must play clean politics. My people have suffered and I am going back to bail them out.
“I believe in the court system of this country. I can make mistakes, the Prime Minister can make mistakes but the court alone can declare whether we are wrong or right.” Mr Yawari said.
His lawyer Mathew Tamutai said the court had decided in accordance with the Constitution of PNG.
“The Constitution is supreme in this country and now the court has upheld it.”
