Manolos secure Lae minor titles

ISLAND Salvage Manolos created history in the Lae softball after all its four divisions claimed the minor premiership title following the end of the round of competition last weekend.
This included its A grade men and women and B grade men and women. The A grade men and women are the current national club champions and their outstanding performance again this season is a testimony of coach Paul Pasen’s no-nonsense approach.
In the A grade men competition Manolos fought a tough battle to overcome defending champions Taubman Tigers with a 1-nil victory last Sunday. Manolos’ only home run came from Michael Kalas.
In the other matches Kara Sharks flogged Kabiu 8-1, Taubman Tigers pipped Kabiu 4-3, Admiralty Marlins caned Telikom 18-2, Manolos thrashed Kara Sharks 5-0 and Burmah Raiders shocked Telikom 11-0.
After the weekend’s matches the points ladder sees Manolos on 22 points followed closely behind by Admiralty Marlins (20), Taubman Tigers (16), Burmah Raiders (11), Kara Sharks (8), Kabiu (7) and Telikom yet to score a point.
In the women’s division Taubman Tigers caned Kabiu 7-0, Telikom nailed Admiralty Marlins 7-0 and Manolos defeated Kara Sharks 6-2, Kabiu pipped Kara Sharks 3-2, Manolos thrashed Taubman Tigers 11-0 and Telikom proved too strong for Burmah Raiders 7-0.
In the women’s division Manolos on 21, Taubman Tigers on 15, Kabiu 13 tied with Telikom 13, Kara Sharks 12, Admiralty Marlins and Burmah Raiders 0.
