Mioks name a squad

A 30-man train-on squad for Toyota Enga Mioks will be named after selection trials games this weekend at Aipus Johnson Siki oval.
There will be eight teams from various districts vying for the selection trials.
The teams are Timalos, Kambis (Wabag), Lagaip Brothers (Laiagam), Porgea Nuggets (Porgera), Wapenamanda Coffee Crushers (Wapenamanda) and Sau Sakaips (Ambum/Kompaim),Avi Souths and Muli/Mai.
Wabag rugby football league president Sandis Tsaka said confirmed that the final selection will be done this weekend during the two-day trial matches.
Tsaka said normal club matches for this weekend would be shifted to Mommers oval in the town today.
Mioks board chairman Robert Ganim said this week from Wabag that selection would not be the final but there would be some players slotted into the camp if the need arose.
He said franchise owner, Toyota Ela Motors would also have a say on the selection.
Ganim said he was satisfied with the arrangement to select the players because people of Enga had been crying to the selection board to consider some of the Engan-based local players.
He thanked WRFL and franchise owner for their efforts and support to get the team finalised.
Franchise owner representative Don Fox has confirmed that he would be available to watch the games.
He said the selection would not be the final but just to watch the performance of the local boys.
Fox said that performance would determine who plays representative football.
He said also that players in other centers would also be given a notable recognition.
