Moraitis scout patron for NCD, Central

THE Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea (PNG) Chris Moraitis has been chosen as the first-ever patron of the Scouts for National Capital District (NCD) and Central province.
Mr Moraitis was made patron during a ceremony at the National Scout Headquarters in Port Moresby last week to mark the day of its founder Robert Baden-Powell last Feb 22.
Mr Moraitis said it was a great honour to be chosen as a patron because he was himself a junior scout while growing up in Melbourne, Australia.
The chairman of the national executive committee of the SA of PNG Ouka Lavaki, ML said he was very happy that Mr Moraitis agreed to become the patron of the NCD and CP Scouts.
“We appreciate the High Commissioner’s acceptance, though he is busy, to take his time to be a role model for these PNG boys and girls to become good citizens,” he said.
