Community effort lauded for building of classroom

THE Kebegiuli Community School in the Milne Bay province recently celebrated the opening of a double-story classroom built from their own efforts and funding assistance from PNG Sustainable Development program (PNGSDP).
Director of PNGSDP Mr Donald Manoa praised the efforts of the community including the students for giving their time and labour freely to complete the classrooms.
Mr Manoa said “the building should stand a long time and I hope it will remind us of all the efforts of the building team”.
“Look at your efforts and the support of others as this community dream becomes a reality as it is today,” he said.
PNGSDP provided K250, 000 through its community sustainable development programme (CSDP) and RFI Enterprises provided their boats to be used for the projects and logistical support.
Community support has been rewarding with the labour provided freely by the locals and the land for the construction process handed over by the Kwato church.
The buildings which were built over a period of 12 months contain two classrooms and an office area at each level.
