THE Health Minister Sasa Zibe has engaged another team to conduct investigations into the operations of the entire Health Department.
This, according to Mr Zibe, is to weed out corruption and other bad practices that impede on the department’s smooth operations.
He said his department is in need of a major shakeup, an exercise that is overdue by many years.
Mr Zibe said the purpose of this investigation is to deal with all complaints regarding staff who are alleged to have been involved in corrupt and questionable conduct.
“We have had so many complaints in the past but never got them investigated and offenders go away unpunished.”
Mr Zibe said the performance of a few is spoiling the good name and the many dedicated and committed workforce in the Health Department.
Not only is the public service so slow but it is also the breeding ground for many unscrupulous activities simply because those in higher authorities know about it but turn a blind eye when it is required of them to fight this social evil, he said.
“I for one do not condone such behaviour and I want to see public servants under my control to earn an honest living,” he said.
