National golfers still in the dark

PNG golf pro Lucas Bimbo has come out in response to last weeks report that PNG golf tournaments – the Morobe and PNG Opens – are rated highly by Aussie pros and plans are underway for the Queensland Division of the Australian PGA to run the two tourneys in 2008.
Bimbo said at the weekend that while both tournaments were of a good standard he was disheartened to read comments by the PNG Amateur Golf president Stan Walker who was not sure of the criteria used or how the QLD division had come up with the ratings.
“For Stan Walker to say such things is embarrassing for those of us involved with golf in PNG and shows how out of touch he is with developments in the sport.”
“I think the Lae and Port Moresby Golf Clubs should be proud of the rating given by pros that have competed at these venues and we appreciate the report of the Queensland division tournament coordinator Broc Greenlagh,” said Bimbo.
