Flying start for
rugby player
PNG Raggianas striker Naomi John was given a timely
assistance of K2,000 yesterday from the Regional Aviation Academy towards
her travels with the PNG team to the Fiji Marist sevens.
The sponsorship is a boost for the young forward who will use the money
to pay for her levy fees and other personal expenses.
Defence Rugby Union Club patron Commodore Peter Ilau was there to support
Naomi who is a member of the Defence women’s Rugby Union Club.
At a small presentation at Murray Barracks yesterday, the Academy principal
Nick Kuiaha said the donation was more than just seeing Naomi advance in her
sport, it was also a gesture for corporate organisations and the government
to aid the young people pursuing their dreams and aspirations
“I believe in discipline and I am very happy to support a disciplined young
lady. I am appealing to other corporate and State bodies to support the
other players in the PNG Raggianas team and other sporting young people.”
