Ensure fair play at NHC
THE National Housing Commission (NHC) should be allowed to operate without undue interference. It should be allowed to remove illegal tenants, including relatives of government employees who have died, retired or have been transferred. It should be allowed to sell NHC properties to our own people who may want to make some money. There are, however, elements of malpractices in the commission due to a lack of transparency in the sale of properties without the normal tender process, unfairness in not giving tenants the first opportunity to buy up the unit, nepotism and regionalism. Once a property is sold, it cannot be reversed. I therefore suggest that there be proper representation on the board to ensure fair play. Papua New Guineans must adopt the Japanese attitude and work for the nation, rather than for ourselves. – PMY Tolema, Port Moresby

Angoram project doing well
Since the inception of the Angoram cocoa-coconut project (ACCP) under the management of Steven Mombi, Angoram district has seen a remarkable increase in the production and marketing of wet and fermented cocoa. The NADP’s recognition of the project is a great boost to ACCP and cocoa farmers and fermenters in Angoram. Therefore, on behalf of the cocoa growing people of Angoram, I would like to thank the National Government through the National Agriculture Development Plan for providing K2.5 million to the ACCP. Cheers to all you cocoa farmers and let’s be the best cocoa farmers and fermenters in East Sepik and Papua New Guinea. – Ronald Pam, Karijuang Kamben, Lae

Victory coverages unfair
I want to comment about coverage of the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Series in Australia, and the live telecast on EMTV. There is nothing wrong about the coverage until it comes to the end. If Australia wins, EMTV will telecast the presentation and interviews. But if Australia’s opponents win, coverage is ended and another programme comes on. Last night’s (March 3) telecast was the same. As soon as the game ended and the presentation and interview of the great Sachin Tendulker was about to take place, EMTV ended the show. This happens even though Channel 9 in Australia continues with coverage of the presentations and interviews. Shame, shame, shame... – Regular viewer, via email
