All in place for national softball title

SIX teams have confirmed their participation for the National Softball championships in Port Moresby during Easter weekend.
The teams include the defending champions Madang, Lihir, Kavieng, Tabubil, Lae and Rabaul have confirmed their teams are traveling to Port Moresby.
The preparation around the country have commence regarding their travel.
As of Friday last week, it was confirmed that hosts Port Moresby and Lae are fielding two mens teams and two women’s teams.
Defending premiers Madang have confirmed one women’s team and two men teams to try and repeat last year’s feats in the Kavieng games.
Kavieng, Lihir, and Tabubil are sending one team each in the male and female category. Other associations that still need to confirm their participation are Mount, Hagen, Goroka, Kokopo, and the Tomadir associations.
Officials from the Papua New Guinea softball federation were at a meeting with the Port Moresby softball association executives on Monday to discuss and allocate responsibilities for the Easter championship.
Working committees have been set up and preparations should be in full swing after the Port Moresby men’s grand finals on Saturday.
Peni Tonga has been appointed the person to oversee ground maintenance and Mary Pinon will be spearheading the logistical preparations.
Treasurer and acting secretary Harry Keket said the list of associations taking part should be finalised by this week and urged all associations to contact him as soon as possible on 6864482 to confirm their participation this year.
