Busu and Butiban victories

TWO teams Busu (women) and Butibam (men) won the Sprite Super 3s basketball challenge played at the basketball courts at Eriku, Lae last Sunday.
Busu women proved too strong to beat their rivals Red Beach in the grand final to claim the first prize money of K1,000 cash.
Butibam men also had too much power over Papindo Dragon to beat them in the grand final to claim the first prize money of K1,000 cash.
Red Beach women and Papindo Dragons men settled for the runners-up prizes of K500 each.
A total of 15 teams (10 men and five women) took part in the Sprite Super 3s basketball challenge that was played over the past two weekends.
Lae basketball chief Timothy Lepa congratulated Busu women and Butibam men for claiming the supper 3s title and thank all the teams for participating in the challenge this year.
“This year marks another busy year for basketball season and we are preparing for that with the president’s cup coming up in Easter and all teams are urged to participate in the Easter competition,” Lepa said.
Mainland challenge competition will be played later in the year and will involve top teams from Lae, Madang, Goroka, Mt Hagen, Wabag and Mendi.
