Schoolboys chief call for meeting
PORT Moresby Schoolboys Rugby League president Iffysoe Segeyaro will be calling a meeting next week of parents and officials
to discuss ways of improving the NCD competition. Segeyaro was responding to queries by certain sections of the community regarding the management of the schoolboys competition in National Capital District and said he will be inviting
parents and other stake holders to discuss their perceived grievances. “Other schoolboy competitions around the country are doing well but since Moresby is the biggest it needs a lot of attention”, said a vexed Segeyaro when asked about the difficulties encountered in running the Schoolboys competition. Segeyaro further stated that any money received by
the Schoolboy Rugby League in the form of sponsorships was managed by the PNG Rugby League. He also added that he would be initiating changes to the way money was collected for fees to pay match officials. “The Moresby competition
is a big one and involves many players and I need the help of committed volunteers to keep the competition running thru out its season.”
Women cricketers commended
PNG’s Women Cricketers who took part at the recently completed World Cup qualifiers in Stellenbosch, South Africa, were commended for their efforts at a brief reception held at Brian Bell Home Centre in Port Moresby yesterday. Nades also thanked PNG Cricket patron Sir Brian Bell for his support and interest in developing cricket in PNG. Sir Brian was also presented with a framed certificate of appreciation by the Nades on behalf of the PNGCB acknowledging Sir Brian’s invaluable assistance to cricket in PNG.
