HEAD of Women’s Football, Connie
Selby from the Oceania Football confederation (OFC) is in the country
has been in Port Moresby this past week conducting a women’s soccer
coaching course. The course is titled FIFA Women’s Youth Certificate Coaching Course and is conducted at the PNG Administration College in Port Moresby. The course started on Monday and will end today. The purpose of the course is to develop the soccer skills of PNG women so that they can deliver coaching to the especially women teams in the country. It is also to get more women involved in the development of the code. It is designed to meet the vision of OFC and PNGFA visions of women’s football development in the country and in the pacific as a whole. “It’s all about learning how to put techniques into game situations” Selby said. This course is part of the OFC’s women football development programme in the region designed to involve women in football. The course material were provided by FIFA and recognised by FIFA and OFC where the participants will be certified after the course. It is a women’s course but few men are also taking part as it is a privilege for Participating at the course are Fredrica Siwin, Ikanau Matagiau, Linda Keltery, May Liosi, Jackson Ngahan,Marian Sila, Jenevive Wambena, Liasani Mordegai, Robert Sabadi, Carol Rambuli, Alphonsa Kurabi, Cathy Alau, Taku Niebo, Michael Sigamatha and Spencer Manhi. |
