Lives of students, teachers at risk

THIS letter is in response to an article on March 7, headlined “Classes resume amid threats”.
The resumption of classes at Highland Lutheran International School despite warnings from the Ambulin and Wapukin warring tribes is extremely dangerous.
The school is located at the border of the battlefield around the Aipipas and Akom villages.
Students and teachers could be injured or killed by stray bullets.
People are dying every day and the warring tribes have advised the school to suspend classes, close or relocate the school.
Five years ago, the school was attacked despite the presence of a mobile squad.
The administration office, computer laboratory, library and three classrooms were destroyed.
The school authorities should not put the students and teachers at such risk.
The provincial government appears uninterested in stopping the tribal war and may be planning to relocate the school.
