Political qualities matter most

I WAS amazed and disheartened by the comments made by “Big Pat” of Miaru River blaming a “small-time preacher man” over the challenge of the People’s Action Party (PAP) leadership (The National, March 1).
I know who Big Pat is. We studied at the Kerevat National High School and later at the University of Papua New Guinea.
I would suggest that Big Pat start using his real name, if he ever wants to air his views on any issues that is or may be affecting PAP.
The “Small-time Preacher Man” whom Big Pat blamed for causing all the troubles in the PAP leadership issue is not an angel.
He is an individual like everyone else but above all, he has done much for PAP since its formation in the late 1980s.
He and the PAP founders like Ted Diro, David Nipuega, Daniel Itu, Mark Wom, Nora Brash, Noel Tererembo and I worked tirelessly to get this party to where it is today.
Among the things that I admire most in “Small Time Preacher Man” is his political qualities, something that is lacking in my good friend Big Pat.
Big Pat must be informed that the challenge of any political party leadership entirely depends on the performance of it’s leader, and the PAP is no exception.
Big Pat should not get involved in the affairs of PAP because he hascontributed nothing to the party.
