Prices of fuel for March drop

THE prices of fuel have dropped.
The Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) announced that as of yesterday, petrol prices had decreased 3.6 toea per litre, diesel 8.5 toea per litre and kerosene 12.6 toea per litre.
ICCC Commissioner Thomas Abe said these price reductions were the result of advice from InterOil Limited on movements in the internationally determined monthly Import Parity Prices (IPP) for locally refined petroleum products supplied from the Napa Napa refinery last month.
After adding on excise duties, wholesale and retail margins, the domestic freight charges and the Goods and Services Tax to the March IPP, the new indicative retail prices including GST for fuel products sold in service stations in Port Moresby will be: petrol (K2.72 toea per litre), diesel (K2.23 toea per litre) and kerosene (K2.17 toea per litre).
In Lae, petrol will cost K2.83 toea per litre, diesel K2.35 toea per litre and kerosene K2.29 toea per litre.
Mr Abe said the domestic retail pump prices for all other centres would decrease but the extent of the final retail prices would vary according to the applicable freight rates.
